…to build the highest quality, affordable rental communities for working class Texans in the towns and cities where it is needed most.  Tejas Housing Group is the developer, owner, and operator of 19 attractive and successful multi-family developments constructed throughout Texas since 2001.  We believe that access to quality housing is a fundamental component in building wholesome neighborhoods, cohesive families, and confident individuals.

Our communities offer individuals, families, and seniors a safe, comfortable living environment at an affordable cost. This objective is achieved by utilizing the Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program. Working in conjunction with the local governing bodies of each municipality, we strive to become a valued member of the community.

Tax Credit Program

The most successful housing program in U.S. history is actually an incentive for private development of affordable rental housing. The tax credit program provides a one-time up front subsidy to help defray the costs of construction. Lower construction costs lead to smaller mortgages which then lead to smaller rental rates. Tax credit properties are constructed, owned, and operated by private companies not the government.

Property Managers
The property manager is responsible for all on-site activity at the properties. The property manager screens and qualifies each tenant to make sure that they have no criminal history, are employed if less than 55 years of age, and that they qualify financially based on the income limits for that area. The property management company is also maintains the grounds, units, and amenities of the property with an on-site staff.

Novogradac & Company LLP works extensively in the affordable housing field, providing tax, account, auditing and valuation services to affordable housing projects. These services include compiling and examining financial forecasts used in offering memorandum, preparing tax credit applications, drafting partnership returns and Schedules K-1 for investors, and modeling software used to structure investment programs to maximize credit potential. In addition, the firm provides valuation services such as market studies, feasibility analysis and appraisal services for tax credit projects. During the past 12 years, the firm has consulted on more then 1,000 projects, and maintains client relationships with the leading affordable housing sponsors in the industry.

General Contractors

The General Contractors Role

The General Contractor is the entity that actually builds the communities after they have been approved for construction. A general contractor from our team may also be used to complete any repairs on the community or units after they have been leased.

The Architects Role

The architect helps to create the design for the buildings, community center, individual units, and site plan for each community. Strict adherence to ADA and Fair Housing regulations are incorporated into every set of plans to ensure that our communities are accessible and comfortable for everyone.

The engineer surveys and documents the site to prepare for construction as well as provide information about the site to submit to TDHCA. The engineer also works very closely with the city to ensure that all codes and building requirements are met.

Resident Services


Social services are provided to each resident, free of charge, at every community we own. These services are administered by an on-site staff dedicated specifically to providing theses services to our residents. Each development offers a unique mix of services, based on demographics and need, designed to improve the quality of life of our residents and provide them with every advantage moving forward. Some of the services we are currently offering at our communities are after school programs for children, health and nutritional classes, financial planning workshops, home ownership seminars, credit counseling, and wellness checks.
